A cool rustic-modern kitchen with a custom reclaimed-wood wrapped island.

We knocked down the wall that separated the small 'before' kitchen from the rest of the main room so we could add some space and create a welcoming open concept kitchen. [see the 'before' below]  By adding an island with overhang on three sides we created a sitting area and separated the kitchen space from the rest of the room without making it seem closed off and crowded. Because we created a bold reclaimed wood wall adjacent to the kitchen and added lots of natural textures to the exterior as well, we wrapped the kitchen island with the same wood to pull all the spaces together.
